5 budget-conscious way to remodel your bathroom – and increase your home’s value

A bathroom remodel can be a great thing for your home. It can transform one of the most important rooms in your home and turn it into a relaxing retreat. It can make your bathroom look more modern and improve its style. And, of course, it can increase your home’s value by a mile. However, bathroom remodels can be pretty expensive, given how pricey all of the bathroom essentials can be.

Fortunately, you can still freshen up your bathroom by doing some minor key changes here and there. Best of all – such changes are possible even for the tightest budgets. Is that your case? Then read on and find out how to make your bathroom look like new with just a few bucks.

Refresh that paint

Any remodeling expert will tell you that the best way to liven up a room is to paint – and the bathroom is no exception. Besides, it has the added bonus of being fairly easy and quick. Additionally, a bold color choice won’t just make your bathroom look like new again – it will make it amazing. Of course, remember to always go for brighter colors to create the illusion of space you’ll certainly need, especially in small bathrooms.

Change your floor

Ok, this might cost a little more than just a new coat of paint but it isn’t that expensive. Again, bathrooms tend to be small, so changing the floor won’t cost you that much – and it can do a lot for the space. The floor can define the entire style of your bathroom, make it more modern even with the same accessories and renew like few other things can.

Hello, new hardware

When thinking about remodeling the bathroom, most people like to think of it as a whole, forgetting that small details can make or break the room’s style. That’s the case with the pieces of hardware in your bathroom – towel bars, drawer pulls and the like. If yours are old, then you have two possibilities – either their style went out of fashion or they look worn out. Replacing them with classic, simple-design hardware can do much more than you can imagine, and for a very affordable price.

Refurbish your vanity

Vanities are one of the most popular choices in any bathroom. But they surely end up looking outdated, especially if you chose a bold and unique design when you first built your bathroom. Of course, the ideal would be to replace it with a new one when you grew tired of its style. This, however, can be quite expensive and not a solution for many people. The alternative? Repainting your old one, decoupaging it or even decorating it in a whole new way.

Light it up

Finally, let there be light. Light can dramatically change the mood and style of your bathroom, so you shouldn’t overlook the value of a light fixture replacement. Adding more light to your bathroom can make it seem more spacious. Alternatively, you can choose to place new lights to provide accent in certain parts of your bathroom, to create rhythm and a cozy atmosphere.  In all cases, you can use a stylish light fixture to add yet another detail that can make your bathroom stand out.

If you’re thinking about remodeling a room – any room- don’t overlook the value of details. You can do a lot by changing very little, and that’s key when remodeling your bathroom. Since the bathroom is such an small space to begin with, you have to keep your remodeling ideas on the same scale, especially if you don’t have that much money to spend. As always, it’s a matter of creativity, not money.
